Join us as we spend a week sketching and stitching flowers, leaves, and other growing things. In the mornings, students will spend time sketching outdoors before the heat takes over. In the afternoons, we’ll retreat indoors and turn our sketches into patterns we can transfer to linen – then we’re ready to stitch! Campers will use running stitch, backstitch, lazy daisy, chain stitch, seed stitch, stem stitch, and couching stitch. We will experiment with embroidery floss, perle cotton, and sashiko thread. Campers will create a unique plant-inspired piece of needlework, framed in a hoop and ready to hang on the wall.
