Registration for this schedule starts on 03/21/2023 and ends on 07/24/2023
Participants must be 8 years to 12 years old when the program starts.
Throughout the session, campers will talk about the materials used by a ceramic artist and how they relate to earth science. We will learn about how important ceramics has been to our home state of North Carolina and explore ceramic arts from around the world. Campers will touch, feel and work with clay sourced less than 5 miles from the Emerson Waldorf School! Each day campers will have personal time to explore the possibilities of clay and reflect on their explorations in daily journaling. Since taking up clay in 2004, James Ward has taught afterschool and summer clay camps for Chapel Hill Parks and Recreation, the Carrboro Artscenter, and Emerson Waldorf School. He currently teaches adult and youth ceramics classes for the town of Chapel Hill and at Claymakers Studio in Durham. He feels that along with being a direct source of hands-on fun, clay also serves as a perfect vehicle for important life lessons.
Please contact Emerson Waldorf School if you have any questions.
